AUTO ACCIDENT

 

February 28- At 16:35 hours Engine Rescue 3 and Special Unit 3 responded to an auto accident in Box 3-5 in the 1800 block of Waynesboro Pike. Initial unconfirmed reports stated entrapment and possible ejection. Units responding found 2 vehicles involved, 1 over the embankment with negative entrapment or ejection. Company 3 assisted with patient care and traffic control. Units cleared the scene at 17:40 hours.

ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET

 

February 23- Members and guests gathered at the Fairfield Fire Department's social room for the 2007 Annual Awards Banquet. The Top Ten Responders for 2007 were: Dave Martin, Larry Fowler, Brad Martin, Duke Martin, Peggy Martin, Charlie Berger, Sarah Martin, Keith Rudisill, Sam Ginn, and Steve Funk. The Chief's Awards were presented to apparatus operators Brad Martin and Larry Fowler for their dedication. The Polly Award winner was Steve Fitz.

CHIMNEY FIRE

 

January 19th- At 18:00 hours Engine Tanker 3 was dispatched to assist Company 2 (Fairfield) in Carroll Valley Boro at 24 Robin Trail for a chimney fire. Engine Tanker 3's crew and Emmitsburg Fire Department's crew assisted with the roof operations.

FIRST 2008 INCIDENT FOR ADAMS COUNTY

 

January 1st- 12 minutes after midnight Company 3 was dispatched to Frederick County for a brush fire.  Engine Rescue 3, Special Unit 3 and Brush 3 responded to 17601 Sunshine Lane.  Units found a power line that had fallen and started a small brush fire in the woods.  Company 3 cleared the scene after the arrival of the power company.

 

 

 

VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

 

December 27th- At 17:54 hours Engine Rescue 3 and Special Unit 3 were dispatched to an auto accident at the intersection of Waynesboro Pike (Route 16) and Harbaugh Valley Road. Units responding found 2 vehicles involved in a "T-bone" collision. Company 3 was assisted by Franklin County Ambulance 4-8 and Fire Police from Company 2 and Franklin County Company 4. Company 3 cleared the scene at 19:10 hours.

December 23rd- Engine Rescue 3 responded at 13:43 hours to 120 Harbaugh Valley Road for an auto accident. One vehicle was found off the roadway after striking a vinyl fence row. Company 3 was assisted by Franklin County Company 4 Ambulance and cleared the scene at 14:17 hours.

December 8th- Special Unit 3, Engine Rescue 3 and Ambulance 2A were alerted for a vehicle accident at the intersection of Jacks Mountain Road and Waynesboro Pike at 16:19 hours. Responding units found a single vehicle off the roadway, on it's nose, into a tree. Company 3 assisted with patient care and traffic control.

EVOC TRAINING

 

Members from Fountaindale, Cashtown, Waynesboro, and South Mountain Fire Departments participated in EVOC Driver's training hosted by Company 3 on November 16th and 18th.  Classroom instruction on Friday evening was followed up with hands on apparatus driving at the EVOC course at Adams County Emergency Services training center on Sunday.

 

    

 

 

MAJOR DAMAGE

 

November 15th- Communications originally dispatched Company 3 Fire Police to assist with a non-injury vehicle accident at the intersection of Waynesboro Pike and Jacks Mountain Road. Chief 3 arrived on the scene and found 3 vehicles involved and debris scattered approximately 100 feet on the roadway.  Special Unit 3 was requested to the scene to assist with debris removal and traffic control. A Nissan Maxima was attempting to turn left into Jacks Mountain Road when an eastbound tractor and trailer collided with the vehicle after attempting to avoid the collision. This impact resulted in the auto wedging underneath the tractor and trailer and being forced into the westbound lane where it was impacted by yet another tractor and trailer. Miraculously only the car's driver was transported by Ambulance 2A for a precautionary checkup. The Nissan Maxima (pictured below) suffered severe front and rear end damage.  Special Unit 3 cleared the scene at 09:13 hours.

ASSIST ON THE BUILDING FIRE

 

November 12th- At 20:41 hours Company 3 was dispatched mutual aid to Washington County Company 9 (Leitersburg Fire Department) for a building fire.  The fire was located at an apple packing warehouse shed at Rinehart's Orchard. Engine Rescue 3 responded and assisted with overhaul, which consisted of removing firewood "brigade style" from the basement area.  Company 3 was available from the scene at 22:48 hours.

VEHICLE ACCIDENT

 

September 27th- Engine Rescue 3 and Special Unit 3 responded to a vehicle accident on Waynesboro Pike, between Autumn and Valley Trails.  Initial reports indicated a vehicle rolled over with unknown entrapment. Units arrived on the scene and found one pick-up truck in the roadway on its side with negative entrapment or confinement.  Company 3 assisted with patient care and traffic control.
