Annual Awards Banquet
Members and guests honored Company 3 volunteers at its annual awards banquet on February 27th. The following awards were presented:
Top 10 responders: Larry Fowler, Dave Martin, Colt Black, Sarah Ginn, Charlie Berger, Carroll (Duke) Martin, Sam Ginn, Brad Martin, Peggy Martin, and Dale Buffington
Chief's Award- Sam Ginn
Future Firefighters Award- Claudia Rudisill, Colleen Rudisill, and Zach Ginn
"Polly Award"- Given in honor of Earl "Polly" Shindledecker to a member with the department for a minimum of 10 years with experienced in both administrative and fire ground activities. The 2009 recipient was Sarah Ginn.
A special thank you to the Emmitsburg Fire Department for covering our station while we enjoyed the banquet.

With deepest sympathy
Company 3 wishes to extend its condolences in the passing of past Fire Chief Michael Sneeringer of the Littlestown Fire Department, Company 20 on February 17th. Mike was a dear friend and dedicated firefighter that inspired many.

Assist on the building fire at Vision Quest
February 16- At 01:18 hours Company 3 was dispatched to assist on the dwelling fire in Franklin County box 16-5 on Rocky Mountain Road South. Engine Tanker 3 and Engine Rescue 3 responded and staged on the scene until released by command at 04:30 hours. Many thanks to Engine 4-1 from Cashtown Fire Department for covering our station.

Vehicle Accident on Route 16
January 9- At 12:06 PM, Engine Rescue 3 and Special Unit 3 responded to an auto accident on Waynesboro Pike near the intersection of Harbaugh Valley Road (Box 3-2). Responding units found 2 vehicles partially blocking the roadway after a "T-Bone" collision. The driver's side door of the pick up truck involved was removed to access the patient. A total of 5 patients were transported with the assistance of Fairfield EMS and an ambulance from Franklin County Company 4. 2 ALS units also responded to the accident. Company 3 cleared the scene at 14:20 hours.

Assist on the dwelling fire
January 5- Company 3 was dispatched at 01:20 hours for a dwelling fire at 12951 Mentzer Gap Road in Franklin County Box 4-3. Engine Tanker 3 and Engine Rescue 3 responded and assisted at the working fire. Heavy smoke and fire from 2 sides of the structure ruled the home a total loss. Company 3 cleared the scene at 03:28.

Vehicle accident with ejection
On December 28th at 12:44 Company 3 was dispatched to the 2000 block of Iron Springs Road (Box 3-5) for an auto accident. Engine Rescue 3 and Special Unit 3 responded to find one pick up truck that had rolled over several times with one patient ejected. Company 3 assisted with patient care and assisted the police department with their investigation. Franklin County Ambulance 4-7 and Medic 201 transported one patient to a landing zone for air medical transport. Company 2 fire police assisted on the scene. Units cleared the scene at 15:04 hours.

Vehicle on its side
December 13- At 18:54 hours Company 3 was dispatched to the intersection of Jacks Mountain Road and Waynesboro Pike for an auto accident. Engine Rescue 3 and Special Unit 3 responded to find a pick up truck rolled on its side with a patient self-extricated. Once again icy road conditions contributed to the accident.

Icy road conditions
December 13- While enroute to a training class in York Springs, Engine Rescue 3 came upon icy conditions on US Route 15 Northbound. The slick roads led to multiple vehicles colliding in the vicinity of mile marker 1 (Box 23-1). Engine Rescue 3 assisted on the scene with Greenmount and Emmitsburg Fire Departments.

Assist on the auto accident
At 18:20 on November 25th, Engine Rescue 3 was dispatched to assist on the auto accident in Franklin County Box 4-1. The accident occurred at the intersection of Buchanan Trail East and Fort Ritchie Access Road. Company 3 assisted with patient care and clean up of vehicle debris and fluids. Engine Rescue 3 cleared the scene at 19:20 hours.

Engine Rescue 3 handles landing zone
On Tuesday November 17th at 14:30 hours Engine Rescue 3 was dispatched to assist with the fallen subject at High Rock in Washington County, Maryland (Box 9-3). A male patient had fallen approximately 30 feet off of the rock. Engine Rescue 3 set up a landing zone for Trooper 3 at Fort Ritchie.
